Metal Forming
Metal forming is performed post primary process of extraction, casting, and powder compaction and prior to finishing process of metal cutting, grinding, polishing, painting and assembly.
It is basically creating metal parts and objects through mechanical deformation in such a way that reshaping takes place without any material removal/addition thereby keeping its mass unchanged however a completely new piece of metal is formed.
Forming processes are categorized by differences in their effective stresses which may change over the course of operation.
Following are few processes:
- Cold Forging
- Thread Rolling
- Warm Forming
- Hot Forging
